Principio di
Indifferenza

Nicola Bizzarri, Christian Eisenberg,
Nikolai Gümbel and Stephan Janitzky

(upcoming — 28.09.2025 – 20.12.2025)

Fuocherello is pleased to present Principle of Indifference, a group exhibition featuring works by Nicola Bizzarri, Christian Eisenberg, Nikolai Gümbel, and Stephan Janitzky.
The heterogeneous practices of the artists—ranging from sculpture and installation to video, photography, and writing—converge around a shared interest in the act of observing (beobachten), understood in both political and lyrical terms.

In German—the mother tongue of Eisenberg, Gümbel, and Janitzky, and an adopted one for Bizzarri—the word beobachten conveys a sense of attentive, meticulous, and continuous observation, almost akin to surveillance: an act that inherently implies a certain distance. In this sense, the exhibition’s seemingly Oblomovian title, Principle of Indifference, can be read as a reference to a simple statistical principle according to which two alternative events should be assigned the same probability when no further information about them is available.

The artists, who live and work in Munich, exhibit for the first time in the gallery’s space and present new works created specifically for the occasion as part of a collective and collaborative exhibition project that includes sculptures, photographic works, and written text.
